The newly elected leader of Galmudug, Liibaan Axmed Xasan, this afternoon welcomed the incumbent President of Galmudug, Axmed Cabdi Kaariye (Qoorqoor), at Ugaas Nuur International Airport in the city of Dhusamareb.
The newly elected Galmudug leader, Dhusamareb Mayor Cabdiraxmaan Cali Maxamed (Geeda-qorow), Members of both Houses of the Federal Parliament, military officials, and representatives from various sections of the community warmly welcomed President Qoorqoor at Ugaas Nuur Airport.
Following the reception, journalists asked Qoorqoor about the welcome he had received. He responded, “We will leave any further comments for later, Insha’Allah.”
Preparations are currently underway in Dhusamareb for the official handover ceremony, during which the newly elected leader will formally assume office as head of the Galmudug State Government.
Liibaan Axmed Xasan posted the following statement on his Facebook page this evening:
“President Qoorqoor, who has done commendable work for the people of Galmudug, will remain an elder and respected figure among the people of Galmudug. He will continue to contribute his advice, experience, and support to the state-building process and the implementation of our development plans throughout our term in office, ensuring that quality services reach our people.”
Liibaan Axmed Xasan was elected on October 22 to serve as the leader of Galmudug for the next five years.
The peaceful transfer of power and Qoorqoor’s continued cooperation in his capacity as an elder statesman are expected to ensure that there will be no disruption to the delivery of public services.
